Okay, now that I'm not so tired, lol, I can actually comment!

This was actually snapped that close to your house? Wow! Minus the lake I have some pretty scenery here as well.

I've planted several trees of late-5 to be exact. As you know I planted a maple tree that I nursed back to health-it has got some of the prettiest green leaves on it now! I also planted a peach tree at the same time. The day before yesterday I planted an oak tree out front that I got at Wal-Mart on clearance-it's gonna be another one to nurse back to health. Out back I planted a Washington Hawthorne and an apple tree. I placed the apple tree as close to the spot as I can remember-up until about 20 years ago we had one almost in that exact spot and a tornado took it! It's so weird to think that a tornado got that close on you w/o doing any damage to your house, but that's another story, lol!

I've got two wild pecan trees that I'm going to be saving. We have 4 fully mature pecan trees that produce a load of pecans every other year and inevitably we always get little wild trees springing up from year to year from pecans that got crushed and buried. Most of them are too close to the "parent" tree to even consider saving but I've had two that are keepers. One is already on it's way to a pretty good size but the other one I found buried in amongst some weeds last year, lol! It came back this year, so I'm going to place a guard around it so I don't mow it under by accident, lol!

Oh and for the best news of all! For the first time in like 6 years, they've planted something besides rice in the fields around us!!!! I kept noticing how all of the rice fields had already been flooded and had rice growing and the fields beside the house didn't. I went out and looked Monday and, PTL, they have planted beans!!! One farmer told me that the ground beside us makes good rice but that it always gets "red" rice in it (which is a substandard rice, almost like a weed) and has to be cut down. So I think they're finally getting the message that I've been praying for the last several years for them to plant something besides rice, lol!!!!!
